  1. Does burning (S)VCDs at higher speeds cause them to have lower quality?

No. However high burn speeds may cause playback problems. I usually burn them at 16x or 24x and I don't get probs.

  8. After loosing 80% of my Video capture computer, which included my Plextor 12/10/32, to a bad power supply I got one of the Sony CRX215A1 48/24/48. Cheep after rebate!

The crazy thing burnd VCD at 48x with no problems! Plays ok on my old Sony 3000 and on other set top players.

I know the rule is 4x but desied to run some test after installing it. Why not 48x! The "Go for Broke" thinking. Passed the test! Been doing them at that speed for the last month. No problems.

  9. There is no "rule"...

As long as your players are designed to playback CD-R/W discs and you've got a burner and media that can support high burn speeds, there is no reason not to burn at the max speed.

  10. You are right!

The only time I had to hold to the 4x or even 1x is when I create a disk for my Sharp 600 player. But thats a strange units anyway!

i have done the capturing and editing and also I have converted the files to the mpeg. , but now I want to finalize it, is burning to the blank CD-R.
My dealer told me to burn at 1x speed because if I burn at max speed is 24x, my player won't work. Yeah, it works for computer. The Roxio Creator 5 Platinum can burn my movie at the min speed is 8x, I can't click to 1x. I realised that making VCD, i must have 1150kbit/s, not 8x is 1200kbit/s I have VCD player and DVD player for my Home sys, unfortunately both of my machine won' t work.

  12. The speed you write it has no bearing on playback speed. The player will "spin" it at 1x on playback no matter how fast it was burn at.

When you mean "wont work", are you refering to playback of a finalized CD? Are you burn it as "data" or as a VCD? It must be in "VCD" format or the players wont see it. If all you see is just the move file and no directories you are just burning it as data and not a VCD.

If burning it as a VCD and finalized the CD, can the players handle CD-R or RW? Some DVD players wont accept CD-R or CD-RW. Can check the "DVD Player" on the left side of this page to see what other have found about different DVD players playback.

Thank you very much for your help. Finally I am so happy and I feel relief. My DVD Player is DAV S300 that supports CDRW but not the CD-R.
Again thank you very much. May I know what is the difference between the DVD-R, DVD-RW and DVD+R, DVD+RW. I know the letters are same but the + and - is different.

By the way, may friend has a VCD player on Home System but she does not have a DVD player on her home system. The page is at http://www.jvc.com.my/products/dvd/xl_mv30.html
The player won' t support to play the CD-R and CRW. How do I do that ?
I have check normal VCD Disc original and pirated from the shop which is Hollywood movies, the file name has the same with the CDs I burned.
