Depends on what dvd burners & dvd media that I'm using.....TY 12x on Pioneer burners.....VERBATIM 8x - 12x on Benq 1655 & 1640....SONY 8x on any of my dvd burners......2x - 4x spd for VERBATIM DVD+R Dual layer media.......I still have TY 4x speed media which is collecting dust in the closet......of course all of my dvd burners use hacked firmwares except for the one & only Sony 7240 dvd burner that I own....

Media is usually JVC and tossers (CMC crap media) for giveaways. All burns are 12X for +R SL because Nero CD/DVD was scoring out lower on 8X burns for this machine (than 12X). No bad burns that I haven't caused myself.

8X for by TYGO-3s. (But 3x or 4x for the 6x to 10x rated Singaporean Verb DL +Rs.) The difference (from before) is that when my PSU went up in smoke, and I had to switch to the backup computer, it has a previously unused Pioneer 111, vs. the ailing Samsung burner in the other rig that could not be trusted for burns at the higher speeds. This is working out a lot better for burns with less wait time, but still not pushing things into the range I'd consider incautious.
When in Las Vegas, don't miss the Pinball Hall of Fame Museum http://www.pinballmuseum.org/ -- with over 150 tables from 6+ decades of this quintessentially American art form. -
8x for SL & 2.4x for DL.
I can wait 4-5 minutes for a SL to burn at 8x -
Like unclebud everything on Hard disks now days. Every once in a while will do a data disk but no movies.
I don't do any video re-encoding to a lessor bps. Not for DVDs or for BRs. I will re-encode the audio but not the video.
