I was wondering if anybody has tried burning a dvd with SpruceUp? I have been using Nero which has been alright, but get a lot of disc errors when trying to play on standalones. So I started burning in dvd udf mode which helped a couple players load without problems. But I have been reading lots of reports of Nero may/may not burn compatible dvds. So I am thinking of switching. I thought about just burning right out of SpruceUp. Is this a good idea? What mode does it burn in? I know I should just go ahead and try it, but hate to waste a disc on a whim. Can anybody help?

I have a pioneer A04 and i cant get the Spruce up Burning section to work
I always have to make a title set or IMG and burn with nero or prassi primo
The DVD burning is fine with older versions of Nero but i think the last 2 versions Stack the vobs in the wrong order so the disk will only play on the computer -
I know that my dvd writer is recognized in SpruceUp so I am sure it would work, I'm just wondering how the compatibility would be as compared to other burning sw. I downloaded the demo of Recordnow Max since I have been reading lots of good things about it. Havn't tried it yet since I don't have a clue how to run the darn thing.

My writer is also recognized but it still wont work
If i remember right it compiles the files then says finished and doesn't actally burn the disk -
Spruce Up is old...it dont support A04 so dont bother trying..Just create a Title Set n use Nero instead

Yes thats what i do
Or use spruce up to make an img and burn with prassi -
I was just wondering since there is such an issue with nero burning completely compatible dvds. I think I will give either prassi or recordnow max a shot. One question for you though. What is the difference in creating a disc image as opposed to creating the video ts and the audio ts folders? Which is better. I don't quite understand the purpose of a disc image and I don't even know how to burn it. Factory dvds have the ts folders, so why would a disc image file be better. Can answers these questions since I am totaly ignorant.

The disk image is just a dvd copy file on your hard drive
you need the title set in the first place to make the disk image from it
You can then burn the image with prassi primo DVD
There no problem with nero title set burning on version 5.5.9.14 and earlier
But 5.5.9.17 and 5.5.10.0 don't stack the vobs the right way so they will only play on your computer and not on your standalone player
Ive been using nero to burn title sets for ages now with no problems ( untill i went on to the newer versions and then just went back to the older version to fix the problem)
But i believe some standolone players dont like dvds that have been burnt with nero ( at least thats what ive read here somewhere not to long ago ) -
Ok I kinda get it. So when I finish authoring with SpruceUP, do I need to create both a disc image and a title set, or just the disc image alone? And also, does prassi or recordnow max prefer disc image instead of title sets for better burns?

Authoring is making a title set from an Mpeg2 (mpv,m2v), and your sound file (AC3,mp2), This will make all the vobs, Ifos and bups
You can then burn this with nero
if nero doesnt work for you, Then you can go on to make a disk img from the title set with spruce up and burn the image of the title set onto a disk with Prassi Primo
Primo will turn the image back into a title set on the disk -
I personally make an image file with spruce & then burn that image with DVDdecryptor in ISO write mode. Disks made this way play on my sony 525, Bith Cyberhome ADL528`s, Xbox & PS2 with no problems.

Ok I just tried the demo version of recordnow max, I heard it is the same as prassi. It looks like a good program, but I am confused as to which settings I am supposed to use, like the file system type setting. Should it be UDF or UDF with Joliet.(my gut instinct tells me it is udf with joliet, please correct me if I am wrong) And what about the settings for burning an image??
