    I would like to know what program can be used to extract audio from an avi file eg. to convert ac3 to mp3. I've only got a 2.1 setup so 5.1 sound means nothing to me.

    Extract the .ac3 with Virtualdub. Convert to .wav/.mp3/.mp2 with HeadAC3he.
