Is there a way to burn a avi movie directly to vcd without having to waste fifteen hours to convert the movie to a mpg? (I LOOKED THROUGH THE SITE AND I COULDN'T FIND ANY INFO ON THIS)

No, DVD players only support MPEG-1 and MPEG-2. AVIs can be using any decoders. If you want to watch it on your DVD player then it needs to be a file format that your DVD player supports.
