Photo DVD Slideshow

Most guides here talk about making VCD or SVCD slideshows. This may be an idiot question, but can I make a DVD slideshow? Is the Ulead software the only thing that can do this? Freeware authoring tools to make my photos show up on a DVD?

Also, when I scan the slides in, what sort of resolution should I use? Does it make any sense to use anything finer than 600dpi, considering that at best the resolution recognized by my stand-alone DVD player is 720 X 480 lines.

yes u can.. try ulead dvd pictureshow.if using dvd format i use print quality resolution (600 or 300 dpi ) doesnt matter if you use lower resolution like 72 dpi looks the same when viewed on ur tv, i only use high resolution in case u want a printouts of your picture in the future...neway u can put hundreds and hundreds of high res pic. in a dvd format. chao

sorry didnt read the ulead only comment, no freeware i know of can do dvd slideshow authoring.

why look for freeware u can get ulead for free..wink

You can also use DVD Workshop for DVD slideshows.
Only drawback is it does not include transition effects.

I have heard that Pinnacle Express did have slideshow transition.
But it was replaced by Pinnacle Expression .. Never tried those.

Pinnacle Expression does have a photo slideshow DVD capability but you have to beware of compatibility of its output with your DVD player. Might not work. My JVC model is not compatible.

jtbterri : Does Pinnacle Expression carry transition effects for DVD slideshows ? I have been told that, unlike Express, it does not have this "transition effect" ability .

yes, Pinnacle Expression has transitions available for VCD, SVCD and DVD output.
