  1. Anyone tried the new Toshiba SD-310V DVD player they are selling at Wal-Mart now? Looks like it doesn't support SVCD but not sure. It has some enhanced sound features, however. No info at the Toshiba WEB site.

Just FYI - bought the Father-in-Law a Toshiba SD-310V (SD310V) for $98 at Wal-Mart. Does not seem to play SVCD. At least it didn't play the 3 SVCDs (Alias Episode and a couple of episodes of "Taken") that I KNOW work on my Apex 1600.

Anyway, we are taking it back tomorrow to get the Apex.

    Cya!

  3. Warning: Most of the new Apex players will not play VCD format. I searched around for one that would play the VCD format for my granddaughter and found one a few months ago, but you have to know what to look for. I doubt you could find one now. Apex is off my list now since it no longer support VCD format. I don't know about SVCD. I looked around here (Melbourne, FL) for a player that would play both VCD and SVCD but didn't find one. I didn't look to hard because of the Christmas mob. I plan to order the Pioneer 656a but it is more expensive.
    Good luck and Merry Christmas
