  1. I've got a RCA RC5240P and I'm very happy with it BUT I want to UPGRADE to a PROGRESSIVE scan DVD player after XMAS. I'm looking for any suggestions on BRAND/MODELS to look at that have given good quality picture and play AS MANY formats as possible. I'd like to stay in the < $200 range if possible.....

    THANKS FOR ALL REPLYS.

  7. I recommend the CP72.

The Panasonic RP82 is often recommended on the AVS forums by the videophiles because of the #1 rated progressive scan/3:2 pulldown chipset it uses. The Panasonic CP72 uses the same chipset, digital/analog converters, and mpeg decoder as the RP82, plus it has a 5 disc changer. There is also a $30 rebate on the CP72. And you can enable and disable the progressive mode remotely instead of having to use the button on the player. It also supports DVD Audio. I just got one, and no regrets. There have been reports of users using it with DVD-R/+R/-RW/+RW.
