  1. I just updated to Nero 5.5.10 and ripped the Lord Of The Rings DVD with Decrypter and used ifoedit95 to create new ifos. I split it to 2 disc as normal and burned. Error in my apex player. So I tried it again on a dvd rw. Same Problem. Re-installed 5.5.4.9.17 and burned it again on the DVD+rw and it worked. By the way I am using the Sony DRU500a. I have split dvd's this way with no problems until this evening. The 2 bad dvd's play fine on my lap top in windvd and my desktop with power dvd. If any of you have an idea as to why I am open ears.

  3. Which mode are you burning - DVD Video? Try DVD UDF/ISO and check the 1.02 compatability box. It's helped lots o people. There are other forum threads on this. http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=131037&highlight=udf

  4. @dun4cheap, I'm pretty certain you burned in DVD_VIDEO MODE. The same thing happened to me when I upgraded to 5.5.10. I had known about the other method which was posted above, however, being that DVD_VIDEO mode always worked for me in the past, that is what I continued to use. When I ripped and burned Romeo Must Die, I got a disk error in my Philips player. I knew I could attribute it immediately to the newest version of Nero. The only reason I upgraded to the newest version anyway was because the previous version had some sort of bug when closing sessions on certain 2.4x + disks, like the Verbatim's I had. I was using RECORDNOWMAX in the meantime. At any rate, once I upgraded to Nero 5.5.10, I was pleased to see the closing session issues had been resolved, however, I got the disk error in my standalone. Once I saw the disk would play in my DVD ROM , I tried the UDF method posted above, and whoala! I lost a $2.60 DVD+R, but that's life. What is really strange is that while most others with previous versions of Nero that experienced the same exact problem, but my DVD Player is able to read all formats, so it's just odd that this didn't happen with prior versions, but does with the newest version. If you do the same, you should be back to normal.

  6. Are you sure the upgrade is your problem? I haven't had any problems at all. I upgraded to 5.5.10 and burned two DVDs on my Sony DRU 500A using the DVD_Video mode. It works like a champion....

Hey Marvel2020, you're not going to get flamed... you have a right to be wrong!

  7. That seemed to cure the problem. Maybe it will make it even more compatable with some DVD rom or players. Although previously it has been pretty compatable. Thanks for the help guys.

I also OFTEN use NERO to burn DVD's. Why?

*Some authoring softwares I use don't recognize my new burner. Nero does.
*Some authoring softwares I use don't allow me to add stuff other that the VIDEO_TS. Nero does.
*I already had Nero and didn't want to pay extra for something else.
*My burner didn't come with it's usual Prassi/VOB stuff cuz it was put together at an OEM reseller and they took it out and kept it.
*Nero has yet to fail me and I've made 60+ DVD's and 100's CD's since April on this workstation--no compatibility problems yet from all my friends/clients/customers.
    *YMMV

I believe I'm using 5.5.9.14 or 5.5.9.17 right now, and I read in this thread and in others about setting Nero to specifically be UDF v1.02. Got me to thinking-gee did I do everything righ? Guess what? I did a disc image using the default DVD-Video template, and one using the suggested v1.02, blah blah blah template. I did a file compare with WinDiff...There is NO difference! Bit-for-bit the same (except file creation dates). Both using UDF v1.02.

Try for your self-use R/W discs so you won't get any coasters.

I haven't burned any dvd's with 5.5.10, but i'm glad they got rid of that "cannot preform session fixation" error and the "cannot close disk" error.

I haven't used Primo but I like Nero because it does CD's to.
