  1. i've posted here before complaining about how i couldn't figure out what settings to convert divXs to mpeg-1, and i figured it out eventually.

now i am at the point where i want to burn an mpeg-1 file to a standard 650mb/74min cd. i am using nero to do this, and following the instructions of http://www.vcdhelp.com/nero.htm. when i go through the moves and hit "burn," it takes about 20 minutes for it to burn (at 4x) 73 minutes of...something. when it's done and i look in the contents of the cd, it's just five folders containing about 2 mb of data, and no movie.

where did the movie go? is it there, but unreadable by my cd drive? i don't have a dvd drive, nor do i have immediate access to a dvd player.

    thanks

For playing VCDs on a computer, with Windows Media Player:

    1. Insert the VCD in your CDROM drive.

    2. Open Windows Media Player.

    3. From the File menu, select Open...

    4. From the drop-down menu at the top of the dialog box that opens, double-click your CDROM drive.

    5. Open the MPEGAV folder and select ALL FILES (*.*) from the Files of type: drop down menu at the bottom of the dialog box, not the Media Files (all types) which is the usual default.

    6. Choose a track to play by opening the desired AVSEQxx file. (Yours probably only has only one track to choose.)

    7. Enjoy! (Of course, you need a computer with speakers.)

    or...

Open the MPEGAV folder on your VCD and drag'n'drop the AVSEQxx.DAT file you find onto your Windows Media Player desktop icon. 8)
