Hi been encoding movies for a while now,but have got a formular and dont mess with it.But i have noticed that the movies after encoding with tmpgnc all stammer, but the original d/loaded versions do not.Is there a setting to change or is it a pal/ntsc problem?.It is all the movies though(Avi,Divx,Xvid).
Please help

Not sure exactly what you mean by 'stammering' but my guess would be that you have a framerate difference between your source avi and your mpeg. This is effectivley what you describe as a Pal/NTSC problem.
If you live in a PAL area, chances are your TV/DVD player will also handle NTSC so conversion isn't necessary. -
I do live an a pal country (England). So when i start tempgnc and the wizard comes on do icreate an ntsc vcd?.Is it as simple as that?.Wont i have to change any other settings besides that?.

Check the framerate of your source avi. Open it in virtuladub and select file->file information. If it is 23.97fps, use NTSC film, if it is 25fps, use PAL and if it is 29.97fps use NTSC. I would suggest doing one short sample encode in either NTSC formats and burn to a CDRW (if your DVD player can handle them) to test if your TV/DVD player can play NTSC ok. If it can then great, proceed as described, if not you will have to learn how to do proper NTSC to PAL conversion. There are guides in the convert sectoin on this.Originally Posted by maureen

Done as you suggested
open virtualdub got the file info
tried a sample
the source was ntsc movie
changed wizard in tmpgnc
started tempgnc encoding
processing inverse telecine?.taking ages.encoding not even started and been running 20 min up to 25 %processing?.
If this is the correct way then no problem about time, rather have it right than quick
