Sony DRU500A 1xDVD-R problem

Hi,

My DRU500A won’t successfully burn DVD-R media at 1x speed. (It’s 1x media) It makes “coasters” when it's about 15% into the recodring phase.

Note:
It can finish the recording at 2x (on the same brand of media) but my drive can’t read the disc.
-Yes next time I will buy quality media, but I have 94 pcs left. which I realy would like to use first.

I can burn DVD+R/+RW-RW at 1x with no problems.

Is the drive defect and should I get I replaced under warranty??

You should read some posts about compability media with dru-500 !!
The Vivastar media is the only one that I can't burn in this drive.
Try to sell the other 94 discs...

I just burned my first PRINCO DVD-R 1x only and it when fine and more, plays fine in my standalone player.

They come in a 10pack Spindle and are verrrry cheap.

Did you burn it at 1x or at 2x

I can make a succesfull burn with 2x but it results in very jerky playback on my standalone.

I burned 4 of them allready, not a single problem and my writter has firmware 1f

rys12, what type of stand alone player do you have? Not all stand alones will play DVD-R's and even some that say they will can have problems with some media. We purchased a Panasonic DVD U52 that said it would play DVD-R's and we had nothing but problems. It had no problem playing quality media, like Fuji's, but it would not play cheaper media like Memorex or Ritek.
