Well, i got DVD2SVCD. I was so happy that it saved me so much time by allowing me to click a few buttons and do everything that used to take me days to do, all overnight! I created an SVCD and split it onto 3 discs. However, when I watched it, as the movie progressed on each disc, the video and sound would increasingly stutter (at the beginning of disc 1 it would be fine, but as it neared the end of disc one, more and more video+sound stutters. Started fine at the beginning of disc 2, more by the end) So....this happened to 3 movies so far, all by DVD2SVCD and I have absolutely no idea why. Im using TMPEG as the encoder, and 2 pass VBR. Help!

Bummer you're having problems with DVD2SVCD. I have never had a problem with this program. I use CCE 2.50 with Win2k.
How are you burning the images? I discovered that I had better results by limiting the burning speed to 4x.
Have you tried different media to burn on?
Are you allowing DVD2SVCD to rip the DvD using internal routines? -
What are you burning the CDs with? I think that may be the issue. I use the latest version of Nero without any problems --- DVD2SVCD with either CinemaCraft or TMPGEnc.

Executioner is right here. I use smart ripper and had the exact same problem. The burn speed is the culprit. I've wasted many CDs trying to figure it out. I have a 32X burner and using Nero. Burning at 32 causes problems, blocky jitter 3/4 way through the disc. The fastest I burn movies at now is 20X. You just have to experiment with the fastest you can get away with. Hope this will solve it for you...

actually it's not the burn speed like many say. It's the media used with the firmware of the burner. I recently bought 48X from Costco and first time ever I got those green blocks at the end of the cd.

This flash utility only support LiteON-IT LTR-2123S drive with frimware: XS01-XS2Z
One of this with this firmware
0-0-0 E: LITE-ON LTR-32123S XS0R works with 48X TDK cd-r from costco
I have two of these with this firmware
0-0-0 E: LITE-ON LTR-32123S XS0X DOES NOT work with 48X TDK cd-r from costco
Anyway to make a long story short I upgraded each of my 32X to 40X with unofficial firmware and voila problem solved. I can burn at 40X with no green blocks.
As far as the original question does it stutter in PowerDVD or WinDVD with it mounted as a virtual cdrom with daemon-tools? If not then your problem lies with cd media or crappy dvd player. -
I feel so stupid! Thats the ONE thing I havent changed...the burn speed, of course! Sheesh, thanks guys. This will most likely fix it....same thing happens to me on audo cd's..if i burn at maximum it messes up. But my max is only 16x...so i dont really see why it would cause a problem. i guess ill have to go to 8 or 4 or something. Btw, I do use nero...and my CDs arent that bad. Anyway ill try it

Ah yes, one more thing i forgot to mention: My dvd player is probably the cheapest DVD player on the face of this planet
And no, it doesnt do it in powerdvd or windvd. But then again, my DVD player isnt the problem cause it only does this for SVCDs created with dvd2svcd

The only reason I burn at 4x because that is the maximum speed of the burner. I bought this SCSI Yamaha burner really cheap, as the guy that had it only burned 20 cd's with it before he pulled it. Then it sat in his closet until I bought it over a year ago. I have it in my spare rig that sits in the garage, so I don't care how long it takes to burn, as this rig main purpose is to test software/hardware and rip DvD's.
And you're correct about the media. I have a Sony DvD, and the only media that will work is Curcuit City's STI brand CD-R's. My other DvD player is an Apex, and it can play any media with no problems. -

I have the exact same burner as you, 32123S OC'ed to 40x. But, I still get the stuttering and picture falling apart, etc when i play on my Apex AD-1100W. At one point, my whole screen just turned into a bunch of green/white lines (it was at the end of the disc).
I burn my SVCD's at 40x. I have Philips 40x certified media. Any ideas guys? Should I lower it down? I hate waiting for a slow burn job though!! ahh!!PlaiBoi -
My friends Apex 1100 has the same problem...My apex 5131 and my MintekDVD1600 play them perfect... I dropped my file sizes to 700mb (you are using 3 cds) and they play perfectly on his...
