Could anyone tell me what programes to use and if you think it is necessary to tell me that would be great, i dont have a 5.1 Amp yet but i am planning to grt 1 and i dont want to have 2 channel stereo for my past DVD rips once i get it, i have been ripping DVDs for a while now, I use DVD Decrypter, DVD2AVI, TMPGEnc(with sample rate converter plugin) and VCDEasy to author, i have perfected my tachnique over the years and AC3 5.1 is my next step, you dont need to explaine everything in great detail, i am almost an expert on the subjects of audio and video, bye...

  2. As an expert, you should know that AC3 audio, whether it is 5.1 or not is not possible on a SVCD or VCD...

You could always try muxing the AC3 audio with the video stream of course and make an "X" disc but I can guarantee that basically no stand-alone player will play it as intended.

BTW, to extract the AC3 audio stream, use SmartRipper.
