  1. ok,
so like i download TNG that has ac3. so i use virtual dub and direct stream the audio out as an wav. then i use tmgenc to merge the .avi and the wav to a svcd. at the finish product. the sound always scratches? kinda like a skitting sound. anyone know how i fix this?

could it it be when i convert the files i am doing lots of things at onces that is causing it? cause i was download 2 things and surfing the net at the same time when i was coverting.

  2. When you direct stream copy the AC3, you are copying the AC3 and saving it as a wav, but internaly it is still an AC3. SVCD only supports wav. So you have to convert the AC3 to a wav, not just copy and rename the file extention to .wav.

  3. so what should i do? just rename it as .wav? cause after the direct stream it is at a .wav file.

rename the files as movie.ac3 and convert it to wav with Headac3he (tools section). You may need to run it through ac3fix.exe first. (google!)

Thats because its not a windows app but a dos one. Open a command window and run it from the command line. type:

    c:>ac3fix audio_in.ac3 audio_out.ac3

    and let it run.

  7. at headac3he. which destineation format i should use? wav? or ac3-wav? and what bit? 16 or 32bit or etc?

  8. Either select wav and use this as the audio source when you encode or select mp2, encode video only and multiplex with the mp2 from headac3he

  11. hey bugster.. thanks for your help. audio came out great.

I just encounter a few of the TNG files that are in "SFM" maybe those are the group that release the files. but when i open the file on virtualdub it say that the audio is in "improper VBR audio encode" is that mean that audio is not in AC3? and i need to use another program to direct stream the audio out?

Yes. In that case the audio is not AC3 as you say. Just do a search on this site or in the forum for something like "vbr audio" and you will find LOADS of info on how to handle this.
