I have not found any solution to this problem here nor there.

I am acquiring DivX movies by the masses now and running out of space to store them. I notice that most of the good movies are approx. 701-719 MB in size. This is posing a slight problem in fitting them on a conventional CD-R.

I decided I would try and convert them to a different format to try and drop the size a bit to fit on the disk. My first attempts in Terran Cleaner 5 I discovered that the audio would show up, but it did not want to see the video. I solved this by upgrading (Updated to 5.0.2) and installing an older codec as well.

Now I seem to be having a problem where the converted file is Inverted (Upside down). Everything else seems to be fine. Can anyone help me figure out how to correct this issue and keep the file from inverting itself.

Note: This happens no matter which format I try to convert to!

    Thanx in Advance.

What exactly do you suggest I use. Speed is important, however I'm willing to wait longer for a more positive result.

    Thanx

DiVX , a mpeg4 format is already one of the most efficent ways to pack them ..

to make them any smaller -- you will of course lose a lot of quality .. barring that - if you want to do it , just use virtual dub and re-size them or lower the bit rate ... for better quality , see the guides (some excellent ones on doom9) on how to make a DiVX ..

converting them to QT , WMF , ASF will not make them any better or much smaller unless you do as i mentioned above ..

converting them to RM will make them useless ever again ..

converting to mpeg 1 or 2 will make the files bigger .

since you can burn 800meg on a cd ... just burn them ... good way to back them up .

    BJ_M,

Thanx for your help. I appreciate the info. I'll see what I can do. I know that changing format would make bigger files. It just seems that any time I try to open any DivX file in ANY editor, (tried the following: Cleaner, Premiere, Ulead,VirtualDub,Vegas Video...) and it seems that every program crashes in an attempt to open the files. I have found 1 file that was allowed to open in virtualdub. Maybe it's my machine thats crap.

I didnt know about the Mode 2 for burning disks. Will investigate.
Thanx again. I appreciate your help.
