  1. Hey all. Just want to start by telling everyone that this is an awesome site and you all rock. Sites like this and people like you really help push technology to it limits and I am thrilled to be a part of it (even if I am a newbie!).

    My issue:
I have some downloaded clips that I am converting to VCD using TMPEGnc. Most of them work fine, unfortunately, there are some that TMPEG does not see the audio. When I look at the properties of the files themselves, it shows audio. Also when I try to play the clips in WinMediaPlayer it attempts to download some CODEC then plays the clip and there is no audio. If it helps, here are the specs on one of the clip's audio properties:

    Duration 0:42:07
    Bit Rate: 64kbps
    Audio sample size: 16 bit
Audio Format: Windows Media Audio V2

If you need any additional information to figure this out, please let me know. Lastly, I am a bit clueless as to how CODEC's work and how to "use" them. I think it may be this lack of knowledge that is causing this issue.

Again, thanks all for checking this out and helping. You all ROCK!

  3. Open the files in virtualdub and go to file->file properties. Check the audio properties there. If it says something like tag 2000 (unknown) or No of channels 5 then you have Ac3 audio. Search the forums or check the guides on this site for how to handle it.
