i know this is a vcd help site and shit, but im having a problem not with the burning process or whatever, but converting/viewing the .avi files..

whenever i try to view the .avi's i download from a certain website, windows media player gives me an error about how it cant download the right codec's to view the file.
i've been to microsoft.com and looked all around and cant seem to find any help about where i can get the codecs i need.

if i cant view the .avi i certainly cant convert it to vcd compatible mpg format. and that presents a problem, seeing as how i cant burn unconverted avi files ya know

hope someone out there can help, cause my entire resource of movies comes from the same place, and they are all the same file type=\
    thanks in advance

Best thing to do is to go to the tools section of this website and checkout the codecs section. There you will find the most commonly used codecs around today.
