I'd like to learn about DVD authoring (advanced menus, chapters,...) but don't have a DVD burner. Do any DVD authoring program leave the possibility of burn the DVD project on a CD-R so it will identified as a (mini)DVD disc by standalone players and by WinDVD on the PC? This way I can do real tests on the behaviour of the menus.

How a DVD player identifies the disc? It's a format or media issue?

Make sure your player can play Mini-DVD as most of the DVD Players out there can't.

Yes, sure. Mini-DVD is my 2nd option, if DVD don't work. My DV-440 won't play Mini-DVD, at all.

Just use ULEAD DVD MovieFactory and make a DVD. It will warn you that you are burning a miniDVD and then make one. This will play on your computer with normal DVD navigation. Obviously, if you are just experimenting, get some CDR/W.

    Thanks

I don't like the GUI style of Ulead products, but I'll try the demo.
