  1. I downloaded a movie from USENET and it's in an .mpeg format
I can't get it to play and I can't find a way to burn it as an SVCD which, accorcing to the poster, is the movie's format. I've made an SVCD using VPC and Fireburner to convert a bin/cue file for burning with Toast, but Fireburner doesn't seem to accept an .mpeg file or does it? Am I missing something?
I've pasted the quote from the poster who didn't know that I think different.

"DeMarco" is an SVCD movie, not a VCD. It's the next step up the ladder in quality. MediaPlayer can't handle it, so what you want to do is scoot over to a.b.cd.image or a.b.cd.image.highspeed and dig up WinDVD. That's the SVCD player of choice. PowerDVD is also a fine program, usually located in a.b.warez.ibm-pc or a.b.w-software. Dig up one of those two and use it for all of your VCD/SVCD movies in the
future. They have full keyboard controls (fast forward, fast rewind, etc), as well as lots of other nifty features.

As far as burning it to playable disc, Nero is one of the more popular burning programs around. It, too, is always drifting through the 'image' and 'warez' groups. I had an odd problem with v5.5.3.5 (although others say it works fine), so grab 5.5 if you see it. The process is kinda goofy so let me spit it out real quick. If you find them both, first install 5.5, then install 5.5.3.5 on top of it. Use the crack, not the reg number, that might have been my problem.

When Nero loads, you should see a "New Compilation" window. Select "Super Video CD" from the left side. Click on "NTSC", then the "Label" tab, enter disc name, then the "Burn" tab. Un-check "simulation" if it's checked. Burn at 4X. Click on "New", Nero will evaluate the file. Click "Turn off..." if it displays an error message. Get the MPG in the far right-hand box, then d-r-a-g it over the lower-left box under "Track". Select "Write CD" from the File Menu, then click on "Write".

  2. you can't feed a MPG to Fireburner, you need to convert first the MPG to .BIN/.CUE with VCDImagerGUI and then feed Fireburner with .BIN/.CUE
