The time doubles when adding subs?

Hi

Is it normal, that when using this guide: http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=128720 the encoding time doubles?

For me it usually takes 3-4 hours encoding a movie, but now (with subs) it takes about 8 hours?

I assume that you are refering to "hard-coded" (permanent) subs.

Text takes quite a while to encode (abrupt transitions and sharp angles, etc).

Exactly, and text drawing filters are quite slow anyway.
