I just purchased the Canopus advc-1394. My primary purpose is to capture TV (via S-video from my Satellite receiver). However I'm looking for software that will allow me to schedule recordings (which will later be used for VCDs).
I'm fairly new, so I was curious if anyone has this card and/or any experience with it? What software is out there (free or pay) that'll allow me to schedule TV recordings?
Thanks in advance!

TitanTV: http://www.titantv.com/ttv/home/home.asp is a TV type guide that works with various capture cards that have scheduler programs written to work with Titan TV. It works well. They also have great customer service if you have questions.

Use IuVCR, it has a scheduler built in and works with DV devices, I use it with a Canopus ADVC100. You just hook your TV input to the analogue ports and record.
