demux video/audio duration - starting to hate this crap!

i think i'm gonna cry (yes i'm a sissy ) k, here's the issue. when i demux a perfectly sync vcd mpg i end up with either the audio 3 secs to short or the video (varies randomly). how can this be possible? shouldnt the audio stream and the video stream be the same lenght as the total video shows in WMP, or any other player?
i tried to use diff. demuxer, only bbdmux has given me 2 streams the same lenght. but when i import the audio into dvdmaestro, it shows there with a wrong duration again. but the audio is longer, checked it with 3 different audio editors.
can i cry now?

The audio and video streams don't have to be the same length, as long as they start at the same point they will be in sync for playback. The length shown in a movie player will probably be the longer of the two. I've heard that some cutting tools tend to slightly mismatch the end points for audio and video, as do some frame rate conversion programs. I think 3 seconds is a little long, though.... If it's not actually causing you a problem, I wouldn't worry about it.

hehe....guess what, i couldnt care less if it wasnt out of sync. but it is...sniff.
actually, its perfectly sync til about min 6 then it suddenly gets out of sync and stays til the end....but i think it gradually increases to about 3 secs from min 6 onwards.

any ideas or how i fix it? its either the ac3 or the mpg2 stream, they both do it.

I used to have the same problem... try the AC3 Delay Corrector... or use HeadAC3he software to convert to .mp2... using those methods i never had a sync problem
