  1. I'm getting ready to purchase my first DVD burner. I plan to replace my current Sony CD-R/RW with the new DVD burner. I also plan to replace my CD-ROM drive with a DVD-ROM drive. My husband is a musician and we download quite a bit of music and burn to the cheap CDs (he learns the songs and then tosses the CD so it would be a little too cost prohibitive to buy higher priced media for that). Right now the Sony drive (at 16X speed) handles the cheap media with no problems. I was looking at the Pioneer A05 as my DVD burner. Does anyone know how it does in recording CD-R to the cheap media? Is there a better burner out there which will do a good job with DVDs and the CDs? I hate to lose the 16X speed so would prefer one that will record at that. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My main plans for the DVD side is to put a lot of my old VHS home movies onto DVD.

  3. The CD-RW format won't play in his CD player which he uses to practice so we have to stick with CD-R and make sure they're finalized.
