well if your trying to do it from a quicktime movie u dont need the overpriced bloated ass cleaner.. (yeh it might cost alot, but on a whole it STILL sucks) if you want to do svcd from mov try either mediapipe or ffmpegx...they are much better than cleaner 6 in my experience

At this point, Cleaner is the only viable alternative if the original image needs some adjustment, if only to produce a high quality intermediary format to encode later.
The ColorLUT pipe in MediaPipe has been broken for months, and there is no HSL or brightness/contrast correction. MediaPipe freezes, crashes, etc. and has no advantages at this point over other, simpler software.
Of course you could encode as mpg1 with ffmpeg and darken a light video, but just try to get the audio in synch.
Cleaner can't handle mpeg2 worth anything, though, which I suppose is the reason you find it so distasteful. If you really want to see something funny, try re-encoding a DivX in Cleaner! Don't do this unless you are leaving immediately for a long vacation... -
the biggest reasons i have problems with cleaner 6 (besides the interface, most bloated EVER) is the fact that it DOESNT support decoding/transcoding ac3 audio to another format.. which is just TOTALLY worthless. its SLOW, totally unresponsive (this is on a DP 800 with 768 of ram, so i dont think my computer is the problem, ahem) while granted the ColorLUT pipe in mediapipe isnt functioning properly i have a feeling the next version will blow crappy overpriced cleaner 6 out of the water.. then MAYBE discreet will pull their heads of out their asses and put out a product that is even worth 1/4th of their ridiculous price tag.
