Hello, all:
I'm using a Hauppauge WinTV GO PCI card with VirtualDub under Win2K SP3 and the VFW drivers. For the life of me, I can't find the cause of (or get rid of) these random lines that show up wherever they please throughout my captures. They last only a frame in length, but are easy to spot. I've tried both VFW and WDM drivers and I get the same thing. The only good thing is that it doesn't happen often during a capture, but it still bugs me. If it helps any, I'm running on a Duron 750, Abit VIA KT133 chipset, 512MB RAM, doing test captures to an empty 6GB partition. On what may possibly be a related issue, sometimes when I start my capturing, a few green lines show up on the video (much like in the attached image, but worse - they may take up to a second to clear up). Anyone else have these problems or a way to fix it?
BTW, the vidcap in the pic is from 640x480, 29.97fps, YUY2 format, but I've tried others (like YVU9) and get the same results.
Thanks for your help,
K

K,
That's pretty odd. I'm not sure I have a definitive answer, but I'll throw some ideas out.
1) This is a capture-only issue, right ? That is, do these lines show up in the original broadcast ?
2) someone mentioned that Video/Sound IRQ sharing can cause odd distortion in captures. Try removing all unnecessary devices, including any usb cards, even sound cards.
3) Update drivers to most recent.
4) Try a different cap card, if you can get your hands on one.
