    Can someone explain the difference.
Is one for computer and one for TV??
Should I encode my captures to interlaced or de-interlaced.

    To keep it simple,
If you plan on viewing your videos on a progressive display (like your computer monitor) deinterlace it. If you are going to watch it on TV, leave it interlaced....

    Or even more simply:
If you plan to on viewing your videos on PC, don't make mpeg 2, go DiVX (or better XviD)
If you plan on viewing your videos on TV, then keep it interlace and stay with mpeg 2 solutions (SVCD, CVD, DVD)

If you are really interested in learning about interlacing, this is a good informative site.

The only issue I have w/ final encodes to divX to be played on PC is
    why ??
Ok, maybe dome argument, but... I mean, lets say you encode 3 movies,
and am able to fit them on your 20gig harddrive. Then what ??
I mean, how many times can you watch all 3 movies, before you have to
decide on deleting them of the harddrive. As for storing them on a
CDR, well, both my CDRW and DVD-ROM drive spin like crazy, and with
lots of NOISEY spin sounds, (prob due to the format) hardly worth the
burning them on CDR. Unless I'm doing something wrong ?? That goes
for my VCD and SVCDs too. When ever I play them in my CDR drive or
DVD-ROM drive, the motor asks funny or make loud grinding noises, or
is just constantly looking for tracks or landing zones or something,
cause they are both noisey. I've done standard formats for VCD and
SVCD and non-standard - they all do this, and it drives me crazy, and
that is what I'm basing this on, ...that you all experience this
phenominon too - - BUT, when I put a DVD movie disk in the DVD-ROM drive,
    it's VERY, VERY quiet !!
Well, I may be new to the divX thing, but certanly not VCD/SVCD -- donno
why my drives are loud though for othan than DVD. Oh, and on my
second PC's NEWER (few months old) CDRW drive, its noisy too, though
not as noisy. Motor still tries to step into right track or something.
...same symtoms as my fist PCs drives.

Oh well, anyways, that's the only issue I have w/ ANY format burned to
CDR for playing in, to view on PC.

    -vhelp
    ...some divX samples
