    Riddle me this:
I can cap 704x480, no frameloss, CPU @ <75%, with a broadcast signal.
I can cap (S)VHS 704x480, no frameloss, without a SIMA, <27% CPU, composite
I can cap (S)VHS 704x480, no frameloss, with a SIMA, <27% CPU, composite
But when I cap (S)VHS (704x480) with S-Video, with or without a SIMA, my CPU rockets to 100% and frames drop like flies.

    Why is this?

  2. First, what type of capture card are you using?

Second, can you test with some other input besides the SVHS deck on the S-Video connector to see if it is VCR related or something else?

That is interesting, there shouldn't be any real difference.

I am using an AverTV Stereo(PVR). I'll try a DVD player and see if it makes a difference. I would think it wouldn't but who knows. I did notice I had some issues with my pc and had to reload the OS. So I'll see if that too makes a difference.

  4. Just out of curiosity ... what is a SIMA?

  5. SIMA Copymaster, it removes some types of Macrovision from VCR tapes and can improve the signal, not sure if it is a true Time Base Corrector or not.

  6. Sima is mostly sold in US.

There is a de-macrovision box with both composite and S-video connection sold on US and UK's ebay, for $40. It should do the same things. I bought a de-macrovision box 7,8 years ago for $25.00, and it is still going. Sweet.

Well, it's not the card. One word ... clutter. Since my system crashed and I had to load the whole system, I tried again and it works fine. Kinda odd behaviour though. Thanks anyway.
