It can only burn to DVD-RW media, which is considerably more expensive (approx 10X) than DVD-R media.

My supplier is selling the pioneer DVR-105 for £157.87 + vat, which seems like a good deal to me. (In the UK anyway)

Also, be advised it is not new, it is reconditioned. "Recertified" clues me in on this.

Its the 1st gen model manufactured by Ricoh (5120) and is in sell-out since 2 months now.
They force the 2nd gen one, the Ricoh 5125 and similar, able to handle/burn on DVD+R and +RW. 8)

  11. THIS MUST BE THE CHEAPEST DVD+RW ever sold !!!!!

$125 , no messy rebates $125 out the door (plus local sales tax)

dvd100i DVD+RW Internal EIDE Drive, brand new OEM Version

    http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=298977

But be warned, it only does DVD+RW and not DVD+R.
