  1. TMPGenc itself does not support vob files.
A MPEG2 decoder has to be installed to enable VOB file as video stream, and an AC3 decoder has to be installed to enable audio stream. Both decorders are needed to decode a ripped dvd movie.

Most software dvd players will installed both decoder.

    Trouble is ...
WinDVD ac3 decoder generate a wobbling audio
PowerDVD ac3 decoder did not work for TMPGenc.
Elecard player's decorder often stuck at 15 minute video time in TMPGenc.

Is there a better way to do this, or just switch over to DVDx ?

Sometimes TMPGEnc will directly support VOB files if you have MPEG-2/AC3 decoders installed, and have the DirectShow filters at a high priority in the VFAPI plug-ins screen. Performance is spotty (sometimes it will freeze, etc). Also compressing directly from AC3 to MP2 in TMPGEnc yields incredibly horrid results.
