Hmm. I dunno, never had xvid playback problems regardless of the codec installed... I dunno why we're even seeing all these "all-the-same" posts everyday about either DivX or XviD...
-
How is this an all the same post!!!!!!!!
I am trying to help by providing a link to a codec that works well.
Knocking people for helping thats constructive.

I haven't said it's all in the same post. I said "all these posts all the time about xvid codecs (and divx)"
From my point of view, all I've tried always worked. I'm no knocking you, I'm just saying that I dunno how all these people are having problems...
Also, if some people did know how to search, and read the posts, they would see previous answers. Not much people seem to know how to search unfortunately.
Thanks for trying to help others -
I'm still having SEVERE trouble playing back XVID, DESPITE the posted driver file!
(BTW thanks for the effort, I'm not knocking it... it just didn't help)
There is definitely something up with the Nimo/Tsunami packs and permanent messing up of the whole system... even when I uninstall Nimo, etc, I still get problems later on after a separate install of XVID, etc...
...I do think those who come just to post "always worked for me" are a waste of space...
XVID worked for me, too, for almost a month! Then, I installed Tsunami, and could NEVER get it back the way it once was... -
Speaking of SEARCHING the messages, HOW do you search the messages for a particular WORD or TOPIC??
thanks... -
That's up at the top of each page, you can search the whole forum, or just this one...
I did that, and it didn't help with this one...
XVID is one nasty SOB. -
homerpez: I still dunno how you can have problems if you have the right codecs, and I think changing codecs most likely won't fix nothing, for they never gave me problems. Maybe your problem is somewhere else. Nimo did a great job as it does not **** up systems, using it, I can have DivX 3, 4 and 5 cohabitate, XviD and all, painlessly and trouble free. I'v enever tried tsunami tho...
As far as codec problems, I only ever ran into one... I had several mp3 codecs installed, and every DivX encode froze at frame 9995, for no apparent reason. Got rid of Creative's mp3 codec (for all you other sb live owner's) and everything worked fine since then. I actually wasn't using this one, but somehow it still conflicted.
So when I see all these codec problems... It makes me wonder. -
homerpez,
Try this site: http://www.roeder.goe.net/~koepi/xvid.shtml . I was having the same problems as you. This is the latest binary so this should work. also you might want to use winamp3 to play your movies. I personally think its better than winamp or divx player (although they are both very respectable players!). -
