  1. howdy people. question for ya. i rip a movie with smart ripper. all goes well, get the vob files. i serve it with dvd2avi. it is a 16:9. very low film (1%) and is a hybrid (jumps back and forth between progressive and interlaced). i'm trying to decode to .wav and i have forced film on. is this a bad thing? when i get done and try to open the .drv file in tmpgenc it says the file format can't be opened. everything is in the same directory as always so it's not that problem. can someone tell me the settings i need in dvd2avi and also in tmpgenc to get this kind of movie (hybrid) to work? any help or info is appriciated.

  2. not too familar about tmpgenc not accepting the .d2v file...it's prolly a vfapi problem.. check to make sure vfapi plug-in is checked under dvd2avi's HELP drop down menu

as for the video itself, since the video type is really small FILM (you mentioned it's only 1% FILM)...you basically treat this as NTSC. which means you should turn OFF forced film in dvd2avi...

in tmpgenc, do either 1) IVTC and encode as 23.976 fps + 3:2 pulldown or 2) encode in tmpgenc as 29.97 fps + interlaced (not 3:2 pulldown)

the latter method will not play very well on your computer because the monitor is progressive and your rip will be interlaced. however, since the TV is interlaced, it will play your interlaced rip fine.
