  1. Simple question : Can you manually type in the point at which you want a chapter stop in Spruce-Up, or do you have to always drag that damn slider?

    Cheers,

  2. I have that exact question as well. I don't mind using the slider but I can't ever get it exactly where I want it. That kinda irritates me.

Not going exactly where you want it? The problem is that a chapter point can only go at the start of a GOP (ie, an "I" frame). Most GOP's are 12 - 15 frames long. This gives you 3/8 to 1/2 of a second setting ability (meaning that you can only set a chapter point every 0.375 or 0.5 seconds). If you need a chapter set more accurately than this, then you are going to have to tell the encoder to insert "I" frames at the exact point where you want a chapter (consult your encoder manual to learn how this is done for your particular encoder).

    So, "damn slider" it is.

If you click on the slider, you can then position with the curser keys. It will get you to within 0.5 or sec or so of your target, albeit slowly.

ALL movies are originally w/o chapters. A chapter is just an "entry point" that allows you to easily jump from entry point to entry point. There is nothing that says that you have to use someone else's chapters in your compilations.

Hey, I'll try that. Thanks for the info guys, it's not that I want to be really precise with the chapters, just that I wanted to quickly insert the points at, say 20,40,60 etc mins and if you have a big MPG file it takes a while for the video to catch up with the slider.

    Cheers
