  1. hi all i was wondering if anyone can advise me where i can get a decent dvd player from in the states we are off to orlando for xmas and i saw a post a few months ago that you can pick a decent one up that plays everything vcds svcd etc for around $59 in the wallmart
    i would be grateful if someone can give me a brand name and model as we get stuffed in the uk on prices and taxes

    if they only play ntsc is there a firmware upgrade out there for a specific dvd player?
    also dont they have a 110v and 240v switch at the back?
    i would be very grateful if any out there in the usa could forward me any more info many thanks

    also whats the model that the wallmart sell and how much is it

    no they are not dual voltage (rare in the usa - really rare, though with switching power supplies often they will accually run on 220 but for UL approval and fusing requirments are only certified for 120v - as the internal fuses are hard wired onto the board and often the self healing type) ... no they are not convertable to PAL ..


    i just tlooked at http://www.cheap-dvd-players-uk.co.uk/ and really the prices are not that far off usa prices , only places ive seen really substancially cheaper were in some asian countries, which is getting rarer also ..

    Go into argos and get an alba dvd114. In the catalogue they are listed as an alba dvd108, but most stores are supplying the 114 instead. This player is a bargain.
