Hello all!
Im new to this board and just have a couple of questions. I know I have a ton of reading to learn off of but id figure id ask anyway.
Im waiting for my computer to come in. Its an HP 3.06GHz all loaded and comes with a ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. My question is, does this act as a capture card? If im not mistaken, there is the 9700 Radeon and there is the All In Wonder 9700. Are these both the same?
I have a bunch of videos in VHS of the family that I would love to convert over to DVD. So Id figure id pick up a computer with lots of horsepower. If that card doesnt act as a capture card, what is the recommended card to buy that gives great quality and performance? After all these family videos are done, I would like to DVD some AVI videos that I have on my older computer. I know they need to be converted and Im actually doing one as we speak to VCD.
Anyway , Im just looking for a card that will do basically everything with quality.
I understand if no one replies to this since it was probably already asked a bunch of times, but i just trying to get a head start and my reading will continue shorlty!
Thanks all in advance!![]()

I can answer 1 of your questions, the ATI Radeon 9700 does not capture, but the all-in-wonder version does. I have the 8500dv all-in-wonder and really like it so far. It does a great job capturing DV from my camcorder and can capture from composit and s-video sources as well as the built in tv tuner.
