I have a dvd on my computer. It is about 8 gigs. I want to put it on a bigger dvd-r when they come out or just save it for old times sake. I Put it on 2 dvd-rws and then put it back on the computer. It plays fine on my computer. Everything is placed right. When I go to put it in the burner, It gives this error message.

Required file "VIDEO_TS.IFO" is not present

Required file "VIDEO_TS.BUP is not present

    DVD-Video files compliance test failed

Keep in mind that the dvd file is 8 gigs while the burner can only burn 4.7 gigs. Im just concerned about future burning.

  2. It sounds like you just want a backup of the files. So assuming you do not care about making a DVD-Video compliant disc, the answer to your problem is simple.

Do not name ANY directory (folder) "VIDEO_TS" or "AUDIO_TS". If you do, most burning programs assume you want to make a compliant disc. Thus they check the files for compliance.

So just make a "Data" disc and put half the files in the ROOT directory of one disc and half the files (by size) into the ROOT directory of the second disc. Then burn. Also you don't need to use the UDF filesystem, just an ISO one will do.

On a side note, you will still need to use a ripping program (e.g. DVD Decrypter, Smartripper, etc.) to get the .VOB files to your harddrive. Copying them directly from the original DVD will get you video with 70% of the picture filled with bright green blocks. So don't forget.

Thanks for the advice. It worked. Last question of this. When I want to make a dvd compliant disc to burn on a bigger dvd when they become available, I just put in the audio_ts and video_ts folder to make a compliant disc and then burn? This will be for future burns, I just want to make sure my files and the way im saving it will be ok to use in the near future.
