  1. I would like to burn short video clips (from a digital video camera) to CDR? Is that possible? Do I really need a DVD burner or can I do that with my CD writer?
    Thanks,

look at the bottom of this page. it has video file comparisons. how much time will fit on each cd depending on format you use.

  3. Yes I had already seen the link, thanks. And yes I want to burn about 15 minutes DVD quality video on regular CDs.

But browsing the VCDhelp pages I could not find if:
    - I could do it with a regular cd writer,
    - I could do it with the freeware listed (DVDDecrypter) or other?,
    - If this cd will be playable with common DVD players (there are only mentions of DVD-Rs).

My ultimate goal is to mail some family video (DVD quality prefered) to remote family members. They have various DVD players (and some are in Pal countries while others are in NTSC land).

I tried VCD which is ok but not great. Since I have a DV camera, I am loosing a lot of quality in the process.

Using VCDEasy was easy but it does not have a DVD option. (I am assuming that the SVCD option will not do it). I need a DVDEasy!

    Thanks,
    T

I create SVCD on cd's with about 45 min per disk. The quality is very good. much better than a vhs tape. I suggest you try SVCD and see the quality for yourself. as for compatability that is another issue, all dvd players are specific as to what they like. all pc's will be able to play your discs but no gaurentee that dvd players can

  5. You can burn DVD quality video to a CD, this is known as miniDVD. It will hold about 15 minutes of video, you can burn it with a cd burner, and you author and burn it as you would a DVD. The downside is very few standalone DVD players will play it.
