I use Window movie maker to make my movie. I save the movie in HD format. Then I use Window DVD maker to burn to a DVD. When I play the HD .wmv in the computer, I picture quality is great but when I play the DVD, the picture quality is bad and it has so much red color which is not acceptable. I check the file size in the DVD, it is alot smaller than the original .wmv. There is no option in Window DVD maker to increase the quality of the movie or anything like that. I google but can't find any help.

Does anyone know what happen? Is it the window DVD maker that reduced the movie quality of is it the burner software or anything else? Thanks.

You could try convert to dvd with another free dvd converter like avstodvd or dvd flick and see how it looks compared to dvd maker.

But it wont be any hd quality. Then you need a blu-ray player or a media player with hd video file playback support.

And this is not any dvd ripping. Moving you our video conversion forum section.

    #1: DVD doesn't support HD
    #2: DVD doesn't support WMV
    #3: DVD doesn't support WMA

That's three strikes against you from gitgo.

Well actual real dvd players do not support hd on dvd media no, that is correct of course. However hd in the form of avchd on dvdr media is possible on bluray players.

So using multiavchd for example can take the hd source and output avchd onto dvdr media so that you can play it on a bluray player (like the ps3). Or any bluray player that is confirmed to play avchd on dvdr (should be the majority of them but there may be a quirky player or two that doesn't like avchd).

But other than that option you have to do what Baldrick suggeted.

Either downconvert to dvd resolution and live with the quality hit or get a hd media player like a wdtv media player and play the original hd file off a harddrive - or convert to avchd and play on a bluray player that accepts avchd.
