    Hi

I'm new to this and I need to get out of the AVI Twilight Zone...Here goes...

I have been given a couple of CDRs, each containing 3 AVI files. I can play them on my DVD player... it displays an opening screen, showing 3 folders that correspond to the 3 AVI files. I may select any one of the folders and it will play. These files had used Xvid video compression (according to Properties when I accessed them on my PC).

I downloaded some AVI files and burned them onto CDRs (managed to squeeze only 2 AVI files onto each disc). I used Rixio Creater LE (Sonic Solution) via the Direct-to-Disc method provided by the software.

When I played it on the DVD player, I would see 5-6 folders on the opening screen for each AVi file, all bearing the same file name (so 10-12 folders in total per disc). I thought Rixio had split each AVI file into several sections and they would play sequentially, so I played the 1st folder on the list but after a few minutes of playtime, it would loop back to the beginning. The 2nd folder also starts from the beginning but has a longer playtime and it would loop back to the beginning as well. Some folders simply do not respond/play. These files also used Vxid video compression.

What could have gone wrong? Have I used an inappropriate software? Do I need to change any setting on the AVI files before burning them?.......................... Would appreciate any suggestions or solutions to burning AVI files onto CDR that would work on my DVD player.

I am aware I could convert AVI to Mpeg and burn as VCD (after reading several postings on VideoHelp) but I could only squeeze 1 mpeg file onto CDR.

    Cheers!

I'm not familiar with that software, buy you don't need to do anything special. Just burn the files onto disc (CD or DVD) as data.
