When playing certain movies with my JVC XV-S65 (1950kb/second SVCDs with CQ at 100), parts of the movie just stop and then resume about 2 minutes later at a part 2 minutes past. It doesn't just freeze then resume from that spot, it keeps going. What will help solve this problem...leaving the player on for an hour to get warmed up so it can play the svcd better or is there something else i can do? Thanks in advance.

It might be that your DVD player doesn't support SVCD's or you created a SVCD with a very high bitrate (which is non-compliant). It might also be that you need to get another DVD player. It might help if you tell us your encoding steps. :P

    Encoding using Tmpgenc:
I loaded the avi, and found that the framerate was 23.97 fps so i used the NTSC Film template. In settings I used the constant bitrate feature and turned the CQ slide bar to 100. I also set the bitrate maximum to 1950kb/second and minimum to 300kb/second. I didn't check the "enable padding not to be lower than the bitrate" feature. After that I choosed to encode it at "High Quality (slow)". In advanced, "non-interlaced (progressive), Top Field First (Field A), 1:1 VGA, Full Screen (keep aspect ratio), and then I set a source range. Those are the settings consecutively. If you know of anything that I'm doing wrong...reply.

The reason why it stops and starts is because of that 23.976 framerate.
My DVD player has trouble reading 23.976fps files. I would suggest using 3:2 Pulldown. Most DVD players don't like 23.976fps. You could also change the framerate to 29.97 if that helps.

    Hope That Helps!!! :P

In order to use 3:2 Pulldown, you have to encode to SVCD or CVD. In TMPGEnc, select the SuperVideoCD (NTSCFilm) template.

So I take the .avi and then choose the NTSC Film then do my normal settings or use the mpg that I made with my settings? Where can I find the 3:2 Pulldown?

Yeah, make sure your choose the SuperVideoCD (NTSCFilm) template in TMPGEnc as it uses 3:2 Pulldown.
