I have just bought a Samsung DVD R-150 DVD recorder. Now linked up to a Humax PVR and a Loewe TV.

I have tried recording from the internal tuner of the Samsung onto a DVD-R disc. No problems.

Tried recording from the Humax onto the same disk. Appears to be recording but although I can pause the recording I cannot stop it. Not a problem with the remote - the button on the machine will not work either. Using the stop button results in a no-entry sign on the TV screen so for some reason it thinks I should not be doing this. Cannot switch off - says not allowed while recording.

Any ideas before I pull the plug out please?

    Thanks

I might be a little late on this. Could you have possibly got into the instant record option? I know on some machines you cannot just hit stop, during instant record. You have to hit the instant record button again, until you get to REC. Then and only then, you can hit stop?
What I mean by instant record, is the button that when you hit it, it will record for 1/2 hr increments, until you get to a max number of hours, then it starts over, with REC first. Give that a try.

edit-some machines also get into instant record by hitting record another time, while it's already recording. Maybe you did that? To cancel out of this, again hit REC until it cycles back to REC, then hit stop.

It finally stopped - after about 2 hours (but not exactly) without me doing anything! I will however investigate this idea to see if it was something like that - although I certainly didn't intend to set it like that! I'll have another look at the manual - just wish it was written for people who didn't already know how to use it!

    Thanks for the help.

The first time I ran into this was in VCR time. I inadvertently got into instant record, by hitting record twice I think. It was on a tape I didn't want to record on. I tried banging the stop many times, and all other buttons including POWER. Nothing would stop my recording. I finally unplugged the damn thing. After reading the manual, I deduced what had happened. I guess of all the buttons I was banging on, REC was not one of them. After all, all I wanted to do was STOP recording. Who would have thought a person would have to hit REC, to stop the recording! Oh well, live and learn.
