  1. Hi,

I have an MPEG that I want to strip out the audio and toss the video.
I'm pretty sure that the MPEG is Mpeg-1 and I'd like the resulting audio to be in whatever is the most basic audio format for Windows systems.

I found some other posts that seemed close, but I was unable to figure out how to work it for my situation.

    Thanks for any pointers,

    Dave

Use tmpgenc. Go to MPEG Tools and demux the audio. You'll get an MP2 file, which you can convert to a WAV with any one of a number of tools (winamp's disk writer plugin is probably a good choice if you're new to this).

  3. Perfect! Exactly what I needed. It took me a little while to locate the right Winamp plugin, but I got it.

    Thank you very much.

  4. Or an even easier way is to use TMPGEnc and select file, output to file, wave file.
