  1. Hi there, I would like to know if there is a good piece of software which can capture avi files over 4GB? AVI_IO is good but TMPGENC will not open any files with it. If I convert my hdd to NTFS then it seems as if it is capturing over 1 hour but when I play it back, all snowy, hisses crackles and pops and only captured for 25mins!

I always capture using No Recompression 320*240 YU12 Cd quality aud and 25 or 30 fps.

I have a hauppauge wintv go card PCI and please someone help me so I can capture over 4GB and the files must be able to open in TMPGENC.

    Thanks

  3. If you are using an operating system that uses FAT32 file system (Win95/98/ME) you will be limited to a maximum of 4 gigabyte file size, this is a limitation of FAT32. If you upgrade to Win2000 or XP and use the NTFS file system, you can capture files over 4 gig in size.

    Hi techno_stat,

Upgrade to WinXP with NTFS. Get Vegas Video 3.
I just finished capturing one hour from my D8 tape using Vegas Video 3 and FireWire. Captured file size is 12GB.
TMPEGEnc opens that file because Vegas Video 3 uses MainConcept codec which installs into the Windows system.
    No Problemo.
