Newbie alert!! I want to import a separate audio file into Premiere as background music to the camcorder footage I am editing.
I can import, for example and MP3 but its sample rate is 44100 Hz while my DV audio sample rate is 4800hz. When I add the mp3 to the timeline and preview it there seems to be some static. Is this because of the different sample rates?? Do I need to translate the MP3 to 48000 hz or doesn't it matter? If I should translate the sample rate, what plug-in or program can I use?
Also, am I on the right track for adding separate audio tracks to my DV footage?
Thanks in advance

try to re-convert to a wave file at 48k.
and, yes easy to add sound in an editing program.
there are extra "tracks" just for that.
all you need to do is drop them on the timeline in a
seprate track.
