my first dvd rip was unsuccesfull((
Heres what I did:
ripped with cladDVD to .wav and .vob/.d2v
used tmpeng to make a smaller .m2v and a audio file .mp2.
Ran it with windvd 4.0 and it played great, perfect sound, perfect video.
Burned it using pioneer a04 on a pioneer dvd. Burned fine
but neither windvd 4.0 or my dvd player loads it up.
what is the problem
Thanks

Have a go with this http://www.vcdhelp.com/forum/userguides/121195.php
I found it great -
From the steps you outlined you have created a successful mpeg2 file and have burned it onto a dvdr. To be playable it needs to authored grouped into a vob structure with ifo files (see the definitions 'what is' to the left), the new version of Ifoedit (link on the main news page) will do this for you. Also a program like MyDVD will achieve this with less flexibility, less fuss & a simple menu.

Sorry everyone,
I forgot to mention that I did make .vob files and .ifo files using Ifoedit.
Once I make them, is there anything else I have to do in ifoedit?

Try ripping with Smartripper in backup mode.not movie mode. Smartripper will create a VIDEO_TS folder on your HD which will be a mirror of the files on the DVD disk. Make sure the VIDEO_TS folder is in capitol letters. Drag the VIDEO_TS folder into your burning program. I find this a foolproof method to create a DVD-R.
You don't need Ifoedit or DVD2AVI to backup a DVD that is 4.37GB or less. -
I figured it out!
When making VIDEO_TS folder with ifoedit. make sure you do "get vts sector" you get a bunch of windows pop up, just said ok. Also did dvd region code removal.
The burned and it works great in my sony dvp-ns515p
Did both changing lanes and spiderman.

TIP:
next time dont waste your time and space by changing audio to wav
just rip the ac3 stream from the dvd then use an authoring program (that supports ac3 of course) to remux it back with your transcoded videocheck out http://www.geocities.com/eatin_sammiches/sprucecreations.html to download additonal buttons and backgrounds for SPRUCE-UP menu creation
