Recently the card types changed and the old stream was switched off completely so whiles is possible its working again I highly doubt it.
Also be careful with that stuff, my good friend got a card reprogrammer off a website about 2 years ago, the other day he got a message from a lawfirm on behalf of directv and they want him to setting for $3500 or else they will take him to court. Seems they raided the company that sold it to him and they had his name, addy, and what he purchased in their records.
Of course he could fight it, but they are counting on the fact that its not something feasible to do for your average person... basically Hes out $3500.
Sadly he was a paying customer, actually paying more then $60 a month for his service at the time, AND using their one way Sat. Internet option for another 30 or 40 a month. After he spoke with the lawfirm he canceled his subscriptions. So now they are out almost $100 a month so that they can collect $3500 now... and Dishnetwork has a new customer.
Glad I never did any of that...
Moral of the story, be careful.

flaytsus,
what got me intrigued was that i was over a friends house today and he purchased a card from some guy he knows for $200.. as soon as he popped the card in BAM... all the movie channels, every nba & nhl game going on, all the ppv movies, all the porn, local stations from across the country.. i almost spooged myself..
the guy he bought it off guaranteed it for 6 months.. because i know the pirate cards get zapped every once in a while, and they need to be reprogrammed..
the guy has had his system for a quite a few years.. (back since 1998 i think)..
and this is exactly what i want.. i just have no idea how to go about it..
i'd like to get the software i need, and the card programmer, so that when i do get zapped i can get myself back online in no time..
(by the way, thanks for the awesome dvd9 to dvd 5 guide)

when i started looking into this i looked at alt.satellite.tv and its other newsgroups under the heading. i went to the australian section to find the information.
if you have got Foxtel Satellite in Australia you can get 160 channels.

This is treading quickly into warez land. Satellite companies are very anal about theft of service.
legal note: If you are from canada you are legally allowed to steal signals that can only be received by americans. Many shops will sell you pirate Dtv or Dish systems for a resonable price.
