  1. Unless there is some plugin which I am unaware of, TMPGEnc cannot convert WMV for Media Player 9 to anything.

Anyone know how to convert WMV for Media Player 9 to anything else?!

I tried using the Windows Movie Maker, but I got a file about 1568% the size of the original, with $#!T quality. =/

I can't guarantee that it works on wmv9 but I know it works with wmv8.

Just set the directshow reader plugin on in tmpgenc. Options...environmental settings and VFAPI plugin....
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

  4. @ vitonxl:

You used virtualdub on Windows Media Player 9 format video?

    @ gll99:

Tried it and it doesn't work, what I'm trying now is to move the video along frame by frame and capture each frame, jpeg each one, combine it to make a MJPEG movie, then encode that to mpeg2.

A really roundabout way but I can't think of any others... =/
