Phillips DVD 711

I have a Phillips DVD 711 with firmware version 7.12. I have made several DVDs using Ulead Movie Factory and burned them to Verbatim and Memorex DVD-RWs with a Pioneer A04. Most all of the DVDs I have made will not work, they show the main menu page but will not play any of the chapters. On occasion I have been able to get one of the chapters to play but not the entire disc. Does this sound like an authoring, burning, media, or DVD player problem? The player played all of the SVCD and CVDs that I made no problem. Also, is there a newer firmware version than the one that I have and where can I get it?

i cannot use dvd-rws at all...i get the same result
use dvd-r....gen 3 or above if possible..this will cure your problem...it ddid for me as i have a philips 711 and 762...go to here for firmware updates http://home.hccnet.nl/r.de.haas/RC6/index.html
