  1. Okay folks, as you can tell I'm a noob to the forums. I've got one simple question for all of the video capturing pros out there. I'm looking for a capture hardware that I can connect a video game console to and capture videos with audio on my computer. Obviously a favorable resolution to do so is preferrable and the audio quality must be acceptable. All this is must be attained a fairly low price. Any ideas? Thanks.

  2. Oh I forget to list my system specs.

    DELL Dimension 8200
    P4 2800
    512 MB RDRAM PC 1066
    GeForceTi4600
    DVD ROM and CD RW

I also forgot to mention that I'd prefer to get an extrernal USB capture hardware. Any thoughts are welcome.

  4. Well limiting it to USB makes what you're looking for pretty hard to find and recommend. There are very few (if any) quality USB capture devices. There are quite a bit of 50-100 dollar Dazzle "toys" (as I call them) that you can buy at just about any big computer store that will do both things that you want. But.. IMO, the quality of what you'll get isn't something to be desired. If you were to try and look for some PCI or Firewire input then you'd probably have a lot better luck finding something.

  5. The only thing I can think of is the TV Wonder USB. You may need an RF Modulator to hook up your video game. But I think it has composite inputs.

I will have to agree with DigiToast. You are better off getting a PCI card that supports capturing. And it will be cheaper than the USB.
