My wife wants me to convert her work-out videos to SVCD, when I use my normal technique I get a fair amount of ghosting or blurring. Anyone have any suggestions on how I can improve this process for fast motion captures, here's how I am doing it now:
1 .Capturing using Virtual VCR, Morgan Codec, quality=90, integer algorithm (would fast int or float be better for fast motion). Not sure what the 4:1:1, 4:2:0 or YUV, YUY2, UYVY should be for this application. While capturing NO frame drops re reported!
2. Crop/edit using TMPGEnc ->SVCD, 2 pass VBR, min=300, avg=2000, Max=3000, no noise reduction or advanced settings, interlaced, field B.
3. Burn using Nero, Nero performs no other processing
TMPGEnc adds no real loss in quality so the issue really is with capturing I believe. Thanks,

Thanks Tommyknocker,
But I think the problem may be in Virtual VCR or the way I'm using the Morgan Codec because the ghosting occurs in the capture not in the TMPGEnc encoding. I would almost even describe it as combing... I have read through and tried many settings on their website:
http://www.morgan-multimedia.com/
But have still been unable to come up with a satisfactory capture image

I tried. But I fix my ghosting combing, etc. in TMPGEnc, regardless of which capturing product I use.
Hello. -
your source is VHS ?

The problem looks more like the image, when paused on a fast moving image, has been combed over. Like someone has taken a comb and combed the lagging edge of the moving object. Don't know know else to describe it

Exactly. That is what the guide I gave you was for.

Oh yeah, I looked that over, I use noise reduction quite often with the "high quality" box set to 3. I tried the other slider values the guide recommended 3 different times adjusting them slightly everytime. It made zero difference. But I appreciate the advice, I am going to focus on Virtual VCR settings and Morgan Codec settings, I think I need a better quality raw .avi. Thanks again.
